Poem: The day before Mother’s day

By on March 13, 2021

The day before Mother’s Day

I’m doing up the safety belts,
Checking the alarm,
Making sure arrangements work
And no one comes to harm.

I’m washing drying, ironing,
Taking special care,
I’m counting jigsaw pieces
So I know they’ll all be there.

I’m disinfecting toilets,
I’m scrubbing all the floors,
I’m making sure the windows shut,
I’m double locking doors.

I’m all the angles, all the time,
I’m at your beck and call.
Please note, when tomorrow comes,
I’m doing nowt at all.
