Poem

By Dave Kitchen on April 30, 2021

Jab

sixty years ago
I was jabbed for polio
the worst pain in my arm I ever felt
I howled as hard as I could
you’d yell even more if you had polio
my dad observed with his usual sympathy
my mum just smiled and held me
I was safe
the concept didn’t mean much then
it does now

Dave Kitchen

jabbed and trusting we are
slowly getting there
